If you’ve been looking up reviews for Origami Owl, then you’ve probably noted that there aren’t a lot of good ones. Most of them don’t actually explain how the company started and the business opportunities that they offer.
The information on these reviews is primarily on their products but this doesn’t give you adequate information. If you want the entire picture, then you need to research the company and loko at the whole business.
In order to help you through the review process, I decided to write a personal review so you can find out if Origami Owl is the right choice for you. To get an informed an unbiased opinion, make sure to read through this entire review.
You’ll want to start by getting to know the company itself. It’s new to the direct sales market place. The company’s primary goal is to buy and sell custom jewelry. If you look on their website, the Origami Owl claims that they have thousands of independent designers who make the majority of their sales by hosting home parties which they refer to as Jewelry Bars.
This business design provides the opportunity for people to see the jewelry up close and they can also learn more about the products and the business opportunity behind the company.
Origami Owl was founded in 2010 by a 14-year-old Isabella Weems. She grew her business out of Chandler, AZ and it expanded quickly. In just three years, the company generated $250 million in revenue for the 2013 year and earned a B+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
Of course, this means that while the company performed well, they also had some complaints. The most common complaints are that it can be difficult to return or exchange items, some of the products are poor quality, and the customer service isn’t always great. However, the good news is that the company takes these problems seriously and appears to address them quickly.
How Does It Work?
Like I said, Origami Owl offers unique and customizable jewelry. On their website, you can browse products like charms, dangles, plates, chains, and almost any type of jewelry you can imagine. If you want to purchase their products, you have two options. The first option is that you can purchase directly from them as a regular customer. The second option is where you sign up as an independent designer. With the second option, you can sell products at retail by hosting jewelry bars and earning profits through retail sales.
Another area where you can earn money is by enrolling independent designers and earning a commission on what they sell. In order to get started, you will have to pay an initial fee of $149.
Your commissions depend on a few different variables and many people don’t understand this area of the company. You’ll get a 50% commission on dangles, charms, and plates. You’ll receive a 30% commission on everything else that you sell. Origami Owl pays the commissions every Friday so you will get a weekly check for any sales that you’ve made. Their compensation plan is pretty good but there are companies that offer a 50% commission for all of their sales and not only select items.
Legit or Scam?
You should know that the company is not a scam. The fact that it has an impressive amount of sales and continues to grow every year means that it is a credible business. The primary problem is that it is time-consuming. If you want to be successful, you’ll have to do a lot of home parties and get people on your team in order to start making a decent income.
If you’re devoting to this full-time, then you should have enough time but part-time or occasional sellers may struggle a little more. If you’re not able to host home parties, then you can still sell online. Origami Owl teaches people who to sell their jewelry online without having to host a party. You can even reach a broader range of people with this option.
Origami Owl may not be the best choice for everyone, but it is a legitimate company that sells fun jewelry at a reasonable price. If you enjoy sales and accessories, then this may be the right choice for you.
